May 5th Crop Progress Report
After a year where many areas experienced drought, rains have been welcomed this spring. However, it may have been a little too much of a good thing recently as corn and soybean planting progress slowed last week. NASS reported corn planting is 36% complete nationally vs. 42% last year and 39% on average. Soybean planting is 25% complete vs. 30% last year and 21% on average.

Corn and soybean planting quickly advanced in the past week. NASS reported that corn planting is 27% complete vs. 23% last year and 22% on average. Soybean planting is estimated to be 18% complete vs. 16% last year and 10% on average.

Corn and soybean planting is underway and so are the Weekly Crop Progress Reports from NASS. Corn planting is estimated to be 12% complete vs. 12% last year and 10% on average. Soybean planting is 8% complete vs. 8% last year and 4% on average.
