Planting progress forged ahead despite wet weather in some parts of the country this past week.  Corn planting is nearly done at 85% complete vs. 71% last year and 75% on average.  All major corn producing states are ahead of or at their 5-year average.  Corn emerged is at 56% this year vs. 32% last year and 40% on average.

Soybean planting is 45% complete vs. 31% last year and 36% on average.  Soybeans emergence is at 13% vs. 8% last year and 12% on average.  In Minnesota, 21% of the soybean crop is already emerged.  This will be closely watched with the potential for freezing weather this week.
