Overall national corn condition scores were steady this week vs. last week at 62% good-excellent. The corn crop was rated 76% last year at this time. However, the excellent category went up by 2% with the good category going down 2%. There is still a large spread between the ratings in the west vs. the east. Progress is moving along with silking reported at 55% vs. 53% last year and 56% on average.
Similar story on soybean conditions and progress this week with national ratings stable at 62% good-excellent vs. 73% last year. Soybeans blooming at 56% vs. 57% last year and 56% on average. Soybeans setting pods at 17% vs. 18% last year and 17% on average.
