Producers are making good progress planting crops with national progress near the 5-year average.  Eastern cornbelt states have struggled the most but there appears to be a good window in the weather forecast to catch up before rain returns later this week.

Corn planting is 86% complete vs. 90% last year and 85% on average.  Corn emergence is at 60% vs. 69% last year and 55% on average.  NASS may release the first national corn crop condition scores next week.

Soybean planting is 56% complete vs. 56% last year and 55% on average. Soybean emergence is at 22% vs. 27% last year and 21% on average.
