Despite weather issues in some parts of the country, overall planting progress is moving ahead of the 5-year average but slightly behind last year’s pace.
Corn planting is 64% complete vs. 69% last year and 50% on average. Emergence is benefiting from warm weather as 27% of the corn crop has emerged vs. 23% last year and 17% on average.
Soybean planting is also moving ahead with 23% of the crop planted vs. 26% last year and 17% on average.
