NASS released the intial Corn Condition scores for the 2016 crop and they were strong at 72% rated good-excellent vs. 2015 crop which was rated 74% good-excellent at this time. Wisconsin appears to be in the garden spot rated 85% good-excellent.
Corn planting moved ahead at 94% complete vs. 94% last year and 92% on average. Good planting progress was made in the eastern cornbelt states of Indiana and Ohio that were previously lagging. Corn emergence is at 78% vs. 81% last year and 75% on average.
Soybean planting is 73% complete vs. 68% last year and 66% on average. Soybean emergence is at 45% vs. 44% last year and 40% on average.
