LAKE PEPIN ICE THINNER THIS YEAR

The US Army Corps of Engineers took their first ice measurements of the year on Lake Pepin on Tuesday, February 15th.  They found less ice than usual with the thickest measurements at 17 inches.

The warm forecast will continue to melt the lake ice.  It looks like we will have an early river open with possibly the first tows getting to the Twin Cities by mid-March.
