June 2nd Crop Progress Report
This week’s report featured the debut of national corn condition scores. The corn crop is starting out very highly rated at 75% good-excellent vs. 64% last year.
As planting progress nears completion, more of the emphasis is on condition scores. Corn planting is 91% complete vs. 95% last year and 89% on average. Soybean planting is 78% complete vs. 89% last year and 73% on average.

Planters were busy last week as they made up some ground catching up to the average planting progress. NASS reported the corn crop is 70% planted vs. 76% last year and 71% on average. Both Minnesota and Wisconsin are ahead of average and last year’s pace. Soybean planting is 52% complete vs. 61% last year and 49% on average.

However, it may have been a little too much of a good thing recently as corn and soybean planting progress slowed last week. NASS reported corn planting is 36% complete nationally vs. 42% last year and 39% on average. Soybean planting is 25% complete vs. 30% last year and 21% on average.
