Job Summary:

This position will assist the grain lead in all grain operations and other location needs as they arise. The following list is not an all-encompassing list of duties; other duties may be assigned based on business need.


  • Learn to operate the grain facility and all the equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning around facilities.
  • Assist with maintaining grain quality standards.
  • Promote safety in the workplace; observe all safety procedures, identify and communicate workplace hazards promptly, correcting unsafe conditions or actions as able.
  • Be courteous and pleasant when working with customers and provide excellent service.
  • Report needed repairs to management promptly.
  • Comply with OSHA, MDA, EPA, PCA and other regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Regular hours can vary, extended hours will be necessary during peak times (such as harvest) and as other business needs arise.

  • Ability to interact with customers and co-workers in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision and complete tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with a positive attitude
  • High attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to safely operate forklift and other equipment
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.); willingness to learn other systems as needed.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous farm and/or grain experience preferred but not required.
  • A willingness to acquire a CDL with Air Brake Endorsement is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, and delivery tickets.
  • Able to perform heavy work by lifting 75 pounds occasionally, 60 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
  • Able to climb ladders and work at heights, work near moving equipment with moderate to loud noise levels, uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, push and pull.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions and in dusty conditions.
  • While performing the duties of the job, it is required to speak, hear, see, and use hands/fingers to operate a computer, telephone, equipment, etc.
  • Able to enter grain bins and other confined areas following safety procedures.
