Job Summary:

The operations and logistics manager supervises agronomy operations and staff at their specific location to ensure daily operations run as smoothly as possible. Duties include dispatching staff for daily jobs and handling office duties such as providing customer service to walk-in sales and inquiries. Order agronomy products and coordinate delivery and receiving of these products. This is not an all-encompassing list of responsibilities and may be assigned other duties based on business needs. Duties and responsibilities may vary based on location.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily activities of full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees within all aspects of employment: recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training. Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Oversee operational functions, including operation of spray rigs and tender trucks, completion of work orders, training of spray rig operators, quality of spray applications, and promptly resolving customer complaints.
  • Coordinate between sales, dispatch, and applicators to ensure the correct products are delivered or applied; assist in taking customer orders, invoicing, returns, payments, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge of all relevant regulations; oversee compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies (DOT, OSHA, EPA, USDA, etc.).
  • Oversee inventory and loss of products, equipment, and services; coordinate with other departments/positions for ordering, application, etc.
  • Keep current on agronomic products, trends, issues, and services, and be a resource to others for agronomy products.
  • Assist in developing budget and asset needs.
  • Collaborate with the Location Manager and others to implement housekeeping, safety, and equipment maintenance programs to avoid breakdowns and limit safety hazards; identify and correct safety concerns.
  • Communicate with other locations, departments, all levels of management, etc., effectively and within a timely manner.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address process inadequacies and assist in developing ways to increase efficiency.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with a positive attitude
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as business dictates.
  • Excellent organizational skills; be efficient, able to adapt, and prioritize.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team or independently.

Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in production agriculture and a strong agronomy background is preferred.
  • A 2- or 4-year degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
  • The ability to obtain or maintain a Commercial Pesticide Applicators license is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy materials between (50-100 lbs) occasionally. Ability to regularly stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, push and pull.
  • Work conditions may include dust, fumes, moderate to loud noise levels, uneven surfaces, and various heights.
  • Working near moving equipment, outside and inside, and in all weather conditions
  • While performing job duties, one must speak, hear, see, and use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and the ability to be licensed as a forklift operator. Travel to other locations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT health card, pass pre-employment, and all subsequently required drug screening.
