Job Summary:

Regular hours can vary, extended hours may be necessary during peak times and as business dictates. This individual will provide excellent customer service to our customers; taking feed orders, phone inquiries, greeting as they enter, retail sales, assisting the grain department. This position also will also include loading/unloading products of various weights into/out of customers’ vehicles and inventory management. This is not an all-encompassing list of duties; other duties may be added as needed with business need.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Answering incoming calls/greeting customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Assisting customers with feed: ordering, loading/unloading vehicles, trailers, etc. by hand or by a forklift.
  • Assisting customers with product selection and purchasing; answering questions regarding product location, price and use.
  • Processing customer payments; money handling-making change.
  • Ensure store is stocked and clean; exterior and grounds are cleaned and maintained (ie. mowing, shoveling, etc.)
  • Inventory- ensuring correct counts, adjusting/ordering as needed.
  • Communicating with various manufacturing locations to coordinate customers’ orders.
  • Identifying and resolving inadequacies in processes; assist in developing ways to increase efficiency.
  • Completing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Load outgoing trucks.
  • Unload incoming grain.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning around facilities.
  • Observe all safety procedures.
  • Keep the work site clean and neat.
  • Report needed repairs to management promptly.
  • Comply with OSHA, MDA, EPA, PCA and other regulatory requirements and company policies.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as business dictates.
  • Providing above average customer service to our customers.
  • Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; friendly and outgoing personality
  • High level of organization, efficiency, and the ability to adapt and prioritize.
  • High attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a team or independently, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and ability to accept responsibility and accountability for job performance.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a retail preferred.
  • Experience with feed and grain is preferred.

 Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of the job, it is required to speak, hear, see, and use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, push and pull.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting is required (50-100 lbs).
  • Using common office equipment, multi-line phone, computer, printer, scanner, copier, fax machine, etc.
