Job Summary:

The core working hours for this position are 7:30 am to 5:00 pm. In this position, you will provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering phone calls, and overseeing scale operations. This is not an all-encompassing list of duties, and other duties may be added based on business needs.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service by answering incoming calls and greeting customers courteously.
  • Operate the scale to ensure accurate inbound and outbound grain, feed, and anhydrous ammonia transactions. Work with customers to determine grain disposition (selling or storing).
  • Assist in grain facility operations by loading and unloading trucks. Assist in monitoring and maintaining grain quality. Ongoing communications with grain operations staff.
  • May support other departments by entering accounting transactions, providing the feed department support with software batches and invoice transfers, and tracking farm store inventory.
  • Process customer payments and handle cash exchanges.
  • Help customers in the Farm Store with feed orders, load/unload products, counter sales, and answer product questions. Coordinate order deliveries with other locations. Maintain a clean, well-stocked store that is inviting to customers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and monitor equipment to ensure it’s in good working order.
  • Maintain and promote a safe work environment by complying with safety procedures, OSHA, MDA, EPA, PCA, and other regulatory requirements.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be over 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States.
  • Proficient in reading and speaking English.
  • Previous experience in retail, grain handling, or counter experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills are important, and able to adapt and prioritize.
  • Able to work both independently and in a team, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in computer software and willingness to learn other systems.
  • Basic mechanical skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform heavy work by lifting up to 55 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly. Must also be able to walk, carry, push, pull, twist, climb ladders, open/close valves, and shovel.
  • Must be able to work outside during all weather conditions and in dusty conditions.
  • Must be willing to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above) and climb high grain bins and grain legs. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Able to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Able to work extended hours at busy times based on fall season business demands, including nights and weekends, as needed.
