Grain Location Manager
Job Summary:
The Feed & Grain Location Manager leads grain operations and feed sales at the location. This role includes originating grain, managing staff, maintaining a safe and clean facility, and providing great customer service. Other duties may be added based on business needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering phone calls, and assisting with their needs.
- Supervise staff and make staffing schedules to meet seasonal and daily operational demands, ensuring adequate coverage during breaks.
- Manage the Farm Store by selling feed and answering questions, process payments, and oversee product inventory. Assist with loading products. Communicate with other locations to coordinate the delivery of customers’ orders.
- Manage the grain facility, including loading, unloading, and storage. Check and maintain grain quality and equipment.
- Keep accurate records of grain shipments and inventory.
- Be the local presence to buy grain from customers and write contracts.
- Oversee scale operations to accurately measure grain transactions.
- Ensure the location is clean and organized. May assist with cleaning and preparing grain storage facilities, including grain bins, flat storage, dump pits, facility grounds, and any areas within the plant.
- Promote a strong safety culture by following procedures and complying with OSHA, MDA, EPA, PCA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Be part of the company’s Grain Team and collaborate with merchandisers and other location managers to move grain efficiently and share information.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with a positive attitude.
- 3 to 5 years of grain operations or related experience.
- Experience in grain receiving, shipping, and storage.
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to operate a forklift, front-end loader, or other equipment safely.
- Able to multitask, work independently, and lead others.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Intermediate computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- CDL with Air Brake Endorsement is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United States.
- Must be able to read and speak English fluently.
- Lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, 60 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. Must be able to walk, carry, push, pull, twist, climb ladders, open/close valves, and shovel.
- Must be able to work outside during all weather conditions and in dusty environments.
- Must be willing to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above), climb high grain bins and grain legs, and work in confined spaces. Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts.
- Must be able to work overtime, including weekends and extended hours during harvest season.
