Burn Down Days 2025 Results

Sample Collection Date: September 16, 2025

Regions: Ellsworth, WI

Overall Summary: Here are the results of our September 16th results as reported from the lab. A typical guideline is to add 2-3 points of moisture when a sample is run through a chipper instead of a chopper. We are starting to find a fair number of samples that are appropriate moisture for harvest. About half of our samples are still probably too wet for harvest. (Lee Kloeckner)

Overall Summary: Here are the results of our September 11th results as reported from the lab. A typical guideline is to add 2-3 points of moisture when a sample is run through a chipper instead of a chopper. These samples were on average 2.5 points wetter than the samples we pulled on Tuesday. No, the corn is not gaining moisture, the samples were just collected from different farms and fields. Overall Summary: Here are the results of our September 10th results as reported from the lab. A typical guideline is to add 2-3 points of moisture when a sample is run through a chipper instead of a chopper. The average of the samples collected in Goodhue has not changed since our collection day last Thursday. The wettest and driest samples were both about 3 points drier than last week. Overall Summary: Here are the results of our September 9th results as reported from the lab. A typical guideline is to add 2-3 points of moisture when a sample is run through a chipper instead of a chopper. For samples collected at our Ellsworth location average moistures have dropped about 2 points in the last five days. Most of these samples were from different fields than Thursday’s samples, but some were from the same parts of a field. (Lee Kloeckner)
