Sales Agronomist


Job Summary:

This position is responsible for making sound agronomic recommendations to our customers regarding seed, crop nutrients and crop protection products and the sale of the same agronomy products along with custom application and precision ag services.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Sales Growth

  • Prospect, build and maintain positive working relationships with current and potential customers
  • Make sound product and services recommendations to customers to improve their operation
  • Enhance vendor relationships and implement programs in the sales area with focus on growing the overall sales of the Agronomy division

Value Creation

  • Represent yourself as a problem solver to provide value added solutions for customers
  • Establish and implement business and marketing solutions with customers
  • Help coordinate and oversee the marketing of all agronomy sales and services

Customer Acquisition & Concentration

  • Continually gather and monitor information on competition and market trends
  • Develop and lead the implementation of strategic marketing plans to enhance market share
  • Develop regular sales call strategies with assigned customers and prospects

Customer Relationships

  • Provide superior service to both current and existing customers
  • Resolve all issues in both the company’s and the customer best interest
  • Profile and target key customers to attain achievable growth through increased market share by implementing marketing programs set by agronomy management 

Professional Development

  • Possess and maintain knowledge of agronomy related products/programs and the agronomy industry
  • Attend meetings, training, professional development, and continuing education opportunities 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to remain goal-driven in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational skills including multi-tasking, planning, and prioritizing

Licenses, Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Meet the driver qualification standards
  • Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds, up to 25 pounds constantly, and work in all types of weather conditions
  • Ability to work extended hours during the busy season including weekends
  • Pre-employment drug testing required, comply with the Drug and Alcohol Policy
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
