Bag Line Operator
Job Summary:
The Bag Line Operator helps with daily feed mill operations by bagging feed, checking weights, and loading or unloading products. This role helps make sure feed is packaged correctly, safely, and on time. This is not a complete list of duties. Other tasks may be added as business needs change.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Be courteous and pleasant when working with customers and provide excellent service.
- Maintain a positive attitude and respect for fellow employees.
- Blend and package animal feeds accurately and efficiently.
- Check bag weights and make sure the correct product is used.
- Collect and keep product samples as required.
- Load and unload bagged feed safely and efficiently.
- Operate a forklift and pallet jack in a safe manner.
- Follow all safety rules, biosecurity procedures, and feed safety plans.
- Keep the work area, equipment, and tools clean and organized.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Regular hours can vary, extended hours will be necessary during peak times and as business dictates.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic math skills for counting and checking weights.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including extended hours during busy times.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
Education and Experience:
- Previous feed mill or manufacturing experience is preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift and move feed bags weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
- Able to work around dust, noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
