NASS reported that corn conditions slipped lower this week while soybean condition scores remained steady.  The corn crop was rated 70% good-excellent vs. 72% last week and 69% last year.  The soybean crop was rated 66% good-excellent vs. 66% last week and 67% last year.

With corn and soybean planting nearly complete, the focus turns to condition scores and weather forecasts.  NASS reported corn conditions improved to 72% good-excellent vs. 71% last week and 72% a year ago.  However, soybean condition scores declined to 66% good-excellent vs. 68% last week and 70% last year.

June 9th, 2025

NASS reports that corn planting is nearly complete with some areas lagging behind due to excess moisture in the East.  Prevent plant dates have come and gone which may cause some acres to switch.  Corn planting is 97% complete vs. 94% last year and 97% on average.  Soybean planting is 90% complete vs. 86% last year and 88% on average.  Condition scores showed some improvement in the past week.  The corn crop is rated 71% good-excellent vs. 69% last week and 74% last year.  The soybean crop is rated 68% good-excellent vs. 67% last week and 72% last year.

Corn and soybean planting are nearing completion according to this week’s report from NASS.  Corn planting is 93% complete vs. 90% last year and 93% on average.  Soybean planting is 84% complete vs. 77% last year and 80% on average.

Corn condition scores improved slightly to 69% good-excellent vs. 68% last week and 75% last year.  This week brought the initial soybean crop rating of the year at 67% good-excellent.

The US corn crop is entering the final stages of planting and off to a fast start.  NASS reported corn planting is 78% complete as of 5/18 vs. 67% last year and 73% on average.  The only larger corn producing state that is lagging behind is Ohio at 34% complete vs. 48% on average.  With the crop moving ahead quickly, they should start reporting national crop condition scores soon.

Weather has generally been favorable for rapid planting progress and this week’s report from NASS shows farmers have been extremely busy!  Corn planting is reported to be 62% complete vs. 47% last year and 56% on average.  Soybean planting is reported to be 48% complete vs. 34% last year and 37% on average.

The 2025 corn and soybean crops are continuing their fast start to the season. The current forecast looks good for the rapid pace to move forward across the country without much concern for planting delays. As of May 4th, NASS reported 40% of the corn crop is planted vs 35% last year and 39% on average. They reported 30% of the soybean crop is planted vs 24% last year and 23% on average.

Corn and soybean planting progress moved ahead last week just ahead of the 5-year average pace.  Western states are generally ahead of their average while eastern states are generally behind.  NASS reported corn planting is 24% complete nationally vs. 25% last year and 22% on average.  Soybean planting is 18% complete vs. 17% last year and 12% on average.
