Job Summary:

This position is involved in all aspects of feed production procedures, including providing professional, quality service to customers, mixing & packaging feed, and loading & unloading trucks. This is not an all-encompassing list of duties; other duties may be added as needed with business need.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Be courteous and pleasant when working with customers and provide excellent service.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and respect for fellow employees.
  • Blending and packaging animal feeds while ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Load/Unload trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Follow company biosecurity standard operating procedures. Maintain a high standard of feed quality. Comply with safety rules, procedure manuals, and delivery tickets.
  • Identify and resolve product issues as they arise (inventory control, safety, shipping, etc.)
  • Promote safety in the workplace; identify and communicate workplace hazards promptly, correcting unsafe conditions or actions as able.
  • Keep a neat and safe work environment.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Regular hours can vary, extended hours will be necessary during peak times and as business dictates.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to multitask and work with little supervision.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with a positive attitude.
  • High attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Good math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide quickly and accurately.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.); willingness to learn other systems as needed.
  • Ability to operate forklift and pallet jack.
  • A willingness to acquire Class B with Air Brake Endorsement.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a feed mill environment preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, and delivery tickets.
  • Able to perform heavy work by lifting 75 pounds occasionally, 60 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. Also climb ladders, work near moving equipment with moderate to loud noise levels, uneven surfaces, and various heights.
  • Work in all weather conditions and in dusty conditions.
  • While performing the duties of the job, it is required to speak, hear, see, and use hands/fingers to operate a computer, telephone, equipment, etc.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, push and pull.
